Inspiration for my art comes from ordinary moments, whether experienced during my travels or simply walking around London. Each painting tells a different story which hopefully will resonate with the viewer. My art is hopefully going to evoke memories, spark conversations and go beyond being solely decorative.
My creative process starts by observing and photographing everyday situations, exploring interesting compositions, then translating these images onto canvas, using bold, simplified shapes and vibrant colour palettes. I never plan the colours and shapes but enjoy seeing how my paintings constantly change and evolve.
Although I hugely value my three-year degree studying art, I believe that art is a lifelong journey of learning and growth. I absolutely embrace the process of continuous learning and improvement. Every artwork is an opportunity to grow as an artist. Connecting with other artists is vital to this growth, and I still attend weekly sessions with a fabulous group of talented artists, overseen by a long-established well-respected mentor which I have done for the last 12 years. I also find huge value in attending regular life drawing sessions which is the absolute foundation of fine art education. This both exercises the brain and embraces the freedom of drawing from observation under pressure.
Alongside my original paintings, I also produce limited-edition fine art giclée prints, making my work accessible to a wider audience. The reproduced artwork is printed on high quality giclée fine art paper, which can replicate the colours brilliantly and gives a rich textured finish. I have also reproduced work on high quality printed canvas which some people prefer. If there is a particular image you would like to have as a print, it is always worth asking as I have a catalogue of scanned images that could potentially be reproduced. I would recommend not enlarging the image from the size of the original however, as it loses the integrity of the painting.
